Not a traditional résumé, but just making a list of things "I know" is pretty spammy.
My Goal
I want to be hired or contracted to help a company come up with something really cool. Whether it be a website, web application, or a good old piece of software for regular people, I'm interested.
My Skills
I consider myself a Python ninja, first and foremost. It's the first language that has gotten me really interested in programming as something to do for fun, as opposed to a tool.
I'm familiar with and have to use PHP, ASP, etc. often, but they aren't fun. I'd love to learn a new language. I'm dabbling in Ruby.
I've recently worked with a lot of Twisted for a few projects of my own. As far as web frameworks go, I've used Pylons and web.py extensively.
For about six years now I've been making websites. I consider myself a hard-core web nut, and I can give you an earful about any topic you can imagine. I'm a huge stickler for web standards, even when they suck. I know Javascript. I almost don't want to even bother mentioning that I clearly know how to work with HTML, CSS, XSLT, XML, etc.
I use Linux and OS X at home, and one of my recent jobs has involved being a network administrator for Windows 2003 systems. I know too much about IT, and way too much about Windows.
If you've ever considered doing something using the Google App Engine, I've been doing web stuff with Python for a couple years longer than most other people.
Education
I'm currently working towards a career-shifting BS in Computer Engineering. I'll be transfering from Clark College in Vancouver, WA to Portland State in Fall 2009.
Paid Experience
Lo-Fi Art, LLC.
Portland, Oregon (2008)
Lo-Fi Art is a web development and design team based out of Portland, OR. We take on projects small and large, and produce slick, tasteful works of art, all while actually caring about the right way to do things. The real deal. They even keep their slave labor happy by letting me over-engineer things and geek out on stuff. While we're mostly working on client projects right now, this is actually just a way to bide our time as huge, amazing, awesome, secret projects of our own are being hashed out.
My unique accomplishments are unique, but not yet accomplished. A list of amazing works of my own will soon be listed here, once they're out the door.
Small Parts Manufacturing
Portland, Oregon (2004 - Present)
- Windows 2003 network administrator.
- Web developer for in-house applications.
I run a couple websites for the company based on a tiny Python CMS I wrote. It's the same one that runs this site.
I haven't released the code, but I can let you see it. I consider it elegant. Content for pages is written in Markdown, it's really cute.
SwingSet Development
Portland, Oregon (2006)
- I provide IT services to SwingSet.
- I created and launched their website.
Unpaid Experience
I have worked on so many projects as a volunteer or on my own that I have lost track. I've begun publishing and sharing everything I work on as of March 2008 though. I've only got one project up so far, but it's a decent 600-line Python application that uses Twisted.
